புலனாய்வுப் பிரிவின் எச்சரிக்கை, கடமை தவறியமை மற்றும் கொலைக்கு உடந்தையாக இருந்தமை போன்ற குற்றச்சாட்டில் முன்னாள் பொலிஸ் மா அதிபர் பூஜித் ஜயசுந்தரவுக்கு மூவரடங்கிய கொழும்பு மேல் நீதிமன்றத்தின் பெரும்பான்மை வாக்குகளால் மரண தண்டனை விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
பிரியந்த லியனகே, விராஜ் வீரசூரிய மற்றும் திலகரத்ன பண்டார ஆகிய மூவரடங்கிய உயர் நீதிமன்ற அமர்வு முன்னிலையில் இந்த வழக்கு விசாரணைக்கு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.
இந்த தீர்ப்பை வழங்கிய பெரும்பான்மை நீதிபதிகளான பிரியந்த லியனகே மற்றும் திலகரத்ன பண்டார ஆகியோர், பூஜித் ஜயசுந்தர குற்றவாளி என தீர்ப்பளித்தனர்.
பெரும்பான்மை தீர்ப்பை அறிவித்து, உயர் நீதிமன்ற பீச் தலைவர் பிரியந்த லியனகே தெரிவித்தார்: "Despite receiving prior intelligence that a terrorist attack was to be carried out on Easter Sunday, 268 individuals lost their lives and another 586 individuals sustained injuries due to the failure to take any action and the dereliction of duty. During the relevant period, this defendant functioned as the Inspector General of Police of the country. The responsibility of protecting citizens and ensuring public safety was vested in him. However, on the evening of April 20, 2019, the then Director of the State Intelligence Service, Nilantha Jayawardena, provided intelligence to this defendant regarding a planned suicide attack targeting Catholic churches and tourist hotels in Colombo and its suburbs. Yet, he took no steps whatsoever to prevent that situation. As the official appointed by the state to prevent crimes, he has failed in his responsibilities."

சிறுபான்மையினரின் தீர்ப்பை வழங்கிய நீதிபதி விராஜ் வீரசூரிய, பிரதிவாதிக்கு எதிராக வழக்குத் தொடுத்த குற்றச்சாட்டுகள் சந்தேகத்திற்கு இடமின்றி நிரூபிக்கப்படவில்லை என்றும், இதனையடுத்து அவர் நிரபராதி என விடுவிக்கப்பட்டு விடுவிக்கப்படுவதாகவும் அறிவித்தார்.
இதேவேளை, சம்பவம் தொடர்பில் முன்னாள் பாதுகாப்பு செயலாளர் ஹேமசிறி பெர்னாண்டோவுக்கு எதிராக தாக்கல் செய்யப்பட்ட வழக்கு தொடர்பான தீர்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட உள்ளதாக மேலும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.
